Dream Big, Achieve Big
The Magic of Thinking Big focuses on how to create the life of your dreams by teaching you how to dream bigger. David.J Scwharts explains why the people who achieve the most in life, simply have bigger plans to begin with, and how the size of your plan, rather than the natural talents you possess, dictates your success.
The book begins by explaining just how powerful the force of belief is and that the quality of believing in one's self is the most important success quality a person can have. "The magic of thinking Big" demonstrates that being successful doesn't require amazing intelligence, extreme athleticism or natural talent, but rather the very belief that you can achieve your goals in life. The book provides three valuable methods to develop the power of belief, namely:
1 Think Success. Thinking success conditions your mind to create plans that produce success. Thinking failure does the exact opposite.
2 Remind yourself regularly that you are better than you think you are. Success does not require super intellect. Successful people are just ordinary folks who have developed belief in themselves and what they do. Never, never, never sell yourself short.
3 Believe Big. Think little goals and expect little achievements. Think Big goals and win big success.
Excusitis
A further vital element of "The Magic of thinking Big" is humorously labelled "Excusitis". Schwarts calls "Excusitis" the failure disease and tells us that it can be found in every unsuccessful person and partly in average people. Excuses basically allow people who fail in life a means to justify why they fail. Excuses diminish self-belief and extinguish the very notion of achieving wonders in your own life. To have "Excusitis" also means that as a person you have yet to take 100 percent responsibility for all the events, circumstances, people, opportunities and feelings you experience. What this means is that you are the victim in your life, as oppose to the master director and creator.
Build Confidence, Destroy Fear
"The Magic of Thinking Big" also has a section on building confidence and destroying fear. Fear is a tremendously powerful emotion and plays a huge role in stopping people from moving forward in their lives. Fear is the reason that people procrastinate, it is what keeps you contained within your cosy little comfort zone, and it is ultimately what prevents people from living the life of their dreams. So how do you rid yourself of fear? According to Schwarts one must take action, and that by taking action you will cure yourself of fear.
I think Vincent Van Gogh said it best when he said "
"If you hear a voice within you say ‘you cannot paint,’ then by all means paint, and that voice will be silenced.".
